City Manager Joseph Molis told residents the parks bond passed by voters this summer funds multiple capital projects across Lakeway. "We're looking at about a $22,000,000 bond for these park projects," Molis said, and added the city sold the bonds last week at a competitive interest rate that helped lower the overall tax rate this year.
Molis described the specific projects the parks bond will support: a serious overhaul of City Park (including a looped road and expanded parking), more lanes and amenities at the swim center aimed at supporting competitive events, a new park in the Rough Hollow neighborhood (tentatively called Butler Rough Hollow Park), improved playscapes at the activity center and additional courts and restroom facilities at the Live Oak Tennis Center. He said the activity-center playscape project is already in design.
