Heritage Pines approves cleanup at parcel 33, including tree removal and mulching
Summary
The board approved a proposal for perimeter cleanup, removal of dead trees, and mulching at area 33 (including optional weed-whacker work). Grounds staff will follow up on native grasses at Hole 2.
District Manager Chuck Adams presented a proposal requested by Supervisor Carol Vaughan for additional cleanup at area 33. The recommended scope includes perimeter cleanup, removal of dead trees, and mulching; an optional scope would add weed-whacker work on a dry retention slope area.
District Engineer Kurt Heath cautioned there is a natural wetland in the center of the parcel and a separate excavated retention area on the western side; he noted the south side is difficult to mow with equipment. The board approved the proposal, including the optional scope, on motion by Mr. Walsh and seconded by Mr. Putman "with all in favor." Mr. Adams said the invoice will be paid upon completion.
Supervisor Vaughan asked about mulch choice; Grounds Superintendent Tim Gatz said brown bark wood chips are free and additional mulching will occur in early spring. Gatz also reported native grasses at Hole 2 are dwindling and said he will inspect and advise the board.
