Councilman urges town accountant to prepare executive summary amid fund-balance worries

Councilman Adam Boudreau told the board on May 28 that "if the Town of Tupper Lake keep going at this rate in 3 years there will not be a Fund Balance," urging earlier and clearer budget planning. He asked Town Accountant Samantha Davies to provide an executive summary showing month-to-month financial trends and the Fund Balance expenditures the town has already incurred.
Supervisor Rick Dattola and Councilwoman Crystal Boucher responded that those kinds of summaries and discussions are standard at the July and August budget workshops, and Accountant Samantha Davies was asked to include a clear account review and trend projection for the board. The record shows the goal is to ensure board members begin budget talks with an understanding of past Fund Balance uses and current account stability.
