The Brecksville‑Broadview Heights City School District’s treasurer reported on July 16 that FY25 ended with $56.72 million in projected revenue and $64.27 million in expenditures, a net cash decrease of $7.54 million that left the district with $19.23 million on hand.
The district’s finance presentation, reviewed by the board, attributed the majority of the unfavorable variance to a legislatively‑required transfer tied to House Bill 96 of roughly $8.0 million that was not in the original budget. The presentation noted that without that single transfer, routine operating categories were generally at or under budget.
The report also flagged continued revenue seasonality (real‑estate receipts concentrated in a few months) and recommended ongoing fiscal planning to rebuild reserves. The treasurer’s packet showed an operating‑cash metric of about 124 days at June 30, 2025 — roughly four months of coverage — down from 172 days at the start of FY25.
Board members took no recorded roll‑call on line items beyond the motions approving the monthly reports; the meeting record shows the board will continue to monitor cash and to revisit projections as development and legislative items evolve.
"Total projected revenue for FY25 reached $56.72 million, slightly exceeding forecasts by 0.65%," the district financial summary states. The presentation said restricted grants (including catastrophic aid) accounted for some favorable revenue variance, while extraordinary transfers drove the expense variance.
The treasurer and finance staff recommended continued review of seasonal receipts, closer tracking of extraordinary transfers, and routine updates to the board if projections change ahead of the next regular meeting on Aug. 20, 2025.
