Residents tell CDD hazardous trees and debris need attention

During the public‑comment portion of the Feb. 18 meeting, resident Tom Martin asked about plans for Rolling Hills Loop and reported a dead tree near his property at 18906 Rolling Hills Loop that has stood "two or three years" and is an eyesore. Chair Kathleen Lonergan asked for the exact location and said the District Engineer would investigate and follow up with Grounds Superintendent Tim Gatz.
Another resident, Don Brothers, told the Board a tree behind 11453 Heritage Point Drive is an invasive species and was significantly damaged in recent hurricanes; he said the previous owner had placed a debris pile on CDD land. "The tree is a hazard that might land on nearby homes during a hurricane, if it is not removed," Brothers said. Supervisor Stephen Putman inspected and photographed the site before the Board considered A‑Z Tree Service estimates later on the agenda.
The Board directed the District Engineer to investigate the tree at Rolling Hills Loop and follow up with Mr. Gatz; the Board separately approved removal and stump grinding behind 11453 Heritage Point Drive in response to the reported hazard.
