The Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District Board of Education on Wednesday approved a contract with Ohio Paving and Construction for repairs and pavement markings districtwide, authorizing a total project budget of $251,352.60. The contract award reflects a base proposal of $186,352.60 plus a $65,000 contingency to cover unforeseen conditions and additional scope.
Treasurer and staff materials attached to the meeting included a consultant recommendation from Behnke Associates, which reviewed the two bids received and recommended the low bidder. In a transmittal letter appended to the meeting packet, Marie M. Dowling of Behnke Associates wrote that she had "completed work with Ohio Paving & Construction" and that the firm’s recent work for the district and nearby projects gave the firm confidence in recommending award. The motion to approve the contract was moved by Tish Kwiatkowski, seconded by Ellen Kramer and carried 5–0. The Board recorded the roll-call vote as Yea for all five members.
The project scope listed in the packet targets bus parking and sections of the Middle School Drive, along with pavement markings across district properties. The district will use the approved contingency only if needed and will report any change orders in subsequent board materials.
