Richard Hall testified about the property’s history and how the space has been used for indoor recreation for nearly two decades. Hall said the building was built in 2006–2007, that the facility has been occupied by recreational tenants since 2008, and that TSR LLC (operating as Westminster Gymnastics & Cheer) has run the current program since 2012.
Hall described operational details the board considered relevant to impacts and safety: the facility uses existing indoor space, includes sprinklers and monitoring alarms, is served by public water and sewer, and has separate bathrooms and a handicap-accessible restroom. He said the expansion adds a tumbling run and trampoline space needed for cheer and tumbling training. “They train children for gymnastics and cheerleading… It’s been successfully run since 2012 with a number of students,” Hall said.
Hall also provided tenant and square-footage details: Unit 7 is about a 2,000-square-foot area; the combined indoor facility area discussed in the hearing was approximated at 8,800 square feet and the applicant stated a capacity of roughly 150 people.
