Mesquite ISD announced a multi-year partnership with the Holdsworth Center designed to redesign campus leadership structures and expand teacher coaching. Dr. Fields presented the school leadership blueprint Aug. 10, describing a phased rollout over four years.
Under the model, campuses identify teacher leaders who would receive 50% release time to coach peers while remaining a classroom practitioner for the other 50%. Dr. Fields said the model is intended to keep excellent teachers in classrooms while developing their coaching capacity and to give school leaders time for strategy and vision. The district will pilot the program on an initial set of campuses (about 10% of campuses) and expand in waves while partnering with other districts in the Holdsworth cohort.
