Committee sends smoke‑free workplace policy questions to county attorney

The committee reviewed a draft Smoke‑Free Workplace Policy that would ban smoking and use of electronic smoking devices in all county buildings, enclosed work areas and county vehicles. HR Generalist Julie Griffis said she will contact the county attorney with a list of committee questions prior to making any approval recommendation.
No committee vote was recorded on the policy at this meeting. The policy as drafted prohibits smoking and use of electronic nicotine delivery systems in indoor areas and county vehicles and applies countywide; committee members requested legal review before further action.
