Tupper Lake adopts Local Law to regulate new docks at Flanders Park
Summary
The Village of Tupper Lake approved Local Law #6-2024 to add regulations for newly installed docks and wayfinding signage at Flanders Park. The law was adopted unanimously by the trustees present and follows a public hearing with no public comments.
Mayor Mary Fontana called the monthly meeting and the public hearing to order at 6:00 pm and read the Public Hearing Notice for Local Law #6-2024, which amends Chapter 37 (Parks and Recreation Areas) to add language regulating the newly installed docks in the municipal park.
Trustee Eric Shaheen moved and Trustee Jason McClain seconded a motion to close the public hearing at 6:02 pm "since there were no questions or comments;" the motion carried 3-0. Later in the meeting Trustee Shaheen moved, and Trustee McClain seconded, to formally approve Local Law #6-2024; that motion also carried 3-0 and the measure was adopted.
The local law adds regulatory language governing the docks and complements the ribbon-cutting planned for Flanders Park on Aug. 29, 2024. The board did not record substantive public comment on the rule changes during the hearing. The measure now appears in the village code as Local Law #6-2024.
