City Clerk Brenda Evans presented a cost estimate of $4,000 from M & G Engineering to extend the ITEP sidewalk at East 6th and Wilson Avenue. After a lengthy discussion the council decided to table the matter until March 2025.
Council members also discussed other sidewalk-safety issues: Superintendent Shawn Durbin was asked to paint a white line on the south side of East 9th Street to mark the edge of the roadway, and Mayor Helm suggested installing a guard rail on East 6th Street where the sidewalk is close to traffic. Council consensus was to revisit the guard-rail and signage options at a future meeting.
