COLORADO ISD honors Teachers and Staff of the Month; superintendent reports academic improvement

The board recognized district employees for monthly honors and heard an update from Superintendent Dr. Larry Polk on student academic indicators at the Feb. 9 meeting.
Honorees announced included Connie Twilligear (CES Teacher of the Month), Christina Aguirre (CES Staff of the Month), Ryan Cosby (CMS Teacher of the Month), Ashley Hernandez (CMS Staff of the Month), Melissa Lara (CHS Teacher of the Month) and Gloria Rivera (CHS Staff of the Month). Dr. Polk thanked each of the teachers and staff of the month for their service to the district.
Dr. Polk said student academics were showing signs of improvement and reiterated the district goal of achieving an A rating. He and Chair Liliana Ornelas also described community coordination for the Run for the Wall cyclists' planned stop in Colorado City on May 16, including a possible bus to transport district participants to an Abilene noon meal if there is interest.
