District outlines new CTE and course offerings to align with academies

A district administrator presented proposed changes to CTE and non-CTE courses to align with academy pathways, noting the work was guided by external review and internal master-schedule analysis. Proposed additions included personal finance and literacy, expanded Spanish supports, global business, virtual business, sports entertainment marketing, forensic science, physics for engineering (as a science credit), and a project-based capstone for seniors.
"So a couple of the courses that we looked at... personal finance and literacy... global business and virtual business... forensic science... physics for engineering that actually replaces a science credit... and then project based capstone," the presenter said while outlining criteria for student eligibility and how the new courses fit the academies.
The administrator said the team consulted with Dr. Templeton and considered ways to scale pathways down to elementary grades. Trustees were invited to ask questions; none were recorded beyond a general acknowledgement and thanks for the information.
