Superintendent reads and board moves to certify compliance with Senate Bill 12

"So as school superintendent of Chappell ISD, I hereby certify that in compliance with senate bill 12, the district does not operate or maintain any diversity, equity, or inclusion offices or programs and does not implement critical race theory in instructional or professional development practices," the superintendent said while presenting the proposed resolution and the required timeline for submission to the Texas Education Agency.
Board members moved and seconded the resolution for consideration. The superintendent told trustees the certification must be submitted prior to Sept. 30 in accordance with state law. The board chair called for the vote after the motion; the transcript records the motion and seconds and indicates the board proceeded with the item on the agenda.
The presentation was framed as a statutory compliance action tied to Senate Bill 12 (2025); the administration provided the text to the board for consideration. The superintendent recommended formal adoption so the district can file the certification with state authorities by the statutory deadline.
