Oak Run residents urge River Ridge board to address Lake 8 drainage after homes see water intrusion

Rich Batterberry, a resident and NVR of Oak Run, told the River Ridge Board that rainwater pooling from a monument toward Lake 8 is slow to recede and that "water is getting under the foundations," with one homeowner incurring significant mitigation costs. Batterberry spoke during the public comment period on Jan. 28, 2025.
Charlie Krebs, the district engineer, reviewed the scope of work performed at Seaside and said the Lake 8 issues "could be addressed by completing work similar to the work in Seaside," noting that the area had not previously been re-graded. Bob Schultz, chair of the Board of Supervisors, said the matter would be considered in the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 budget process.
The discussion identified the proposed technical fix (regrading) and a timetable for decision-making (budget cycle). The board did not vote or direct staff to begin design or procurement during the meeting.
