Council hears drainage, water-system and maintenance updates; Clean Up Day set for April 25

Resident Kristi Sittner reported concerns about a drain on Fir Street between Monroe and Madison. City Engineer Brian Schuele and Utility Superintendent Zach Fergus inspected the issue and Schuele said the repair would be similar to a prior inlet repair; he will include an estimated cost with the street plans later in the year.
Utility Superintendent Zach Fergus told the council that Ricky Skillett has been hired for the Public Works Worker I position and started at the end of February, and that all water and wastewater tests submitted to labs were approved. Fergus also provided an estimate of about $300 to remove roosting turkey vultures from the city water tower. The council scheduled the annual Clean Up Day for April 25, 2026, 8:00 AM to noon.
