At its March 18 meeting, the Montebello Unified School District Board approved two budget-related items: a transfer of expenditures from the Unrestricted General Fund to the Restricted Lottery Fund not to exceed $5,000,000, and acceptance of a $90,000 donation from Access Books to refurbish the Montebello Park Elementary School library.
The donation, described in the minutes as including painting, literacy murals, a leather sofa, 3,000 reading books and processing and shelving 1,700 new books, was accepted "with thanks." The budget-transfer motion was approved by roll call; minutes list the transfer amount explicitly as "$5,000,000.00." The donation will be filed in the Procurement Office as part of the district’s records.
Both items were adopted on the consent/regular agenda; the minutes do not record extended discussion on either action. The transfer may be used to reclassify expenditures to match restricted lottery funding uses for the 2025–2026 fiscal year.
