The Montebello Unified School District Board on March 18 ratified contract changes reached with the Montebello Teachers Association (MTA) during 2025–2026 negotiations.
Assistant Superintendent Zepure Hacopian provided an overview; the minutes state that the revised MTA/MUSD contract shall run from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028, with unilateral reopeners for the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 school years and automatic openings of Article XII (Wages) and Article VIII (Class Size). The minutes also record that "The Montebello Teachers Association reported that the general membership of the MTA ratified the Tentative Agreements by percentage rate (91. 57%) percent of all ballots received."
Board Member Carlos Cerdan moved to ratify the contract changes and Clerk Elizabeth Cabrera seconded; the motion carried by roll call (4–0; one absence). The minutes indicate copies of the MTA contract are attached to the official minutes (pages 4a(1) through 4a(45)).
The action formalizes terms negotiated between district negotiators and the MTA; minutes do not record prolonged debate or amendments during the public meeting.
