Cachuma board activity: surplus water available, controlled releases to begin Feb. 15

Director Cori Hayman reported updates from the Cachuma Operation and Maintenance Board and related bodies, including operational and environmental items affecting local water management. Hayman told the Board surplus water would be available beginning Jan. 1, 2026, Table 2 releases are required starting Feb. 15, 2026, and staff noted a controlled release spill at Bradbury Dam that was the second-earliest in the dam’s history.
"Director Hayman reported on: the availability of surplus water beginning on January 1, 2026, required Table 2 releases starting February 15th, the occurrence of the second earliest controlled release spill at Bradbury Dam in the history of the dam by one day (the earliest was December 25, 1983), critical valve replacement at Carpinteria Control Station, and tagging of steelhead trout swimming up river on Hilton Creek." The report was informational; no board action was taken on these operational updates at this meeting.
