Activities director details summer sports honors, new band director and homecoming plans

Jason Shupp, the district activities director, presented a round-up of summer athletics and fall plans, citing a strong baseball season (17–8 overall), multiple WIC honors, and academic recognition for student-athletes. He also thanked an anonymous donor who funded a new clubhouse for the girls’ softball program and noted that every senior who played baseball or softball made the WIC all-academic list this summer.
Shupp previewed fall-season coaches and participation numbers (football near 47 players, volleyball around 27, cross country with 12 girls and 7 boys) and introduced Megan Powell as the new marching band director; the marching band currently lists 58 high-school members. He also announced homecoming week Oct. 5–10 with events aimed at bringing alumni and the community back to campus. "Every single senior that we had, playing baseball and softball made the WIC all academic this summer as well," he said.
Board members asked clarifying questions about classification changes for volleyball, open-enrollment numbers that affect classifications, and logistics for band and fall scrimmages.
