Human Services reports LIHEAP summer cooling notices and 21,113 children helped through clothing assistance

The Cherokee Nation Community Services Committee heard an update from Britney Denny Davis of Human Services on LIHEAP summer cooling and clothing assistance programs.
“We’ve had several ask me about summer cooling for our LIHEAP program,” Denny Davis said, noting the notices were sent to elderly and disabled recipients. She advised that eligible households who did not receive the written notice should contact their local office.
Denny Davis reported progress on a separate clothing assistance program and provided a numerical status update: “As of July 31, we had, 21,113 children have received payment so far.” Committee members asked follow-ups about eligibility and distribution procedures; staff said the payments were targeted to elderly and disabled households for the cooling benefit and that applicants should contact local offices if they did not receive mailed notices.
The committee took no formal action on the reports; staff said they are continuing work to close out remaining assistance cases.
