Members of the Rules Committee agreed by consensus to publish a draft animal-services donation policy to solicit public comment and to clarify what supplies the county can accept.
"1, we publish this as a draft animal services donation policy or, I mean, probably, we just rec can recommend that it be published as a draft just to solicit feedback," Rosa Brown proposed. Committee members said publishing a draft would both invite public input and inform donors what materials can be used at the shelter. Miss Robinson agreed to compile comparative policies from neighboring counties and to retain final authority over the published language.
The committee framed the draft-publication step as an initial, nonbinding measure: staff will collect feedback and comparative policy documents and return to the committee with recommendations prior to forwarding any formal policy changes to the Board of Supervisors.
