The Rules Committee of Culpeper County voted to forward to the Board of Supervisors a recommendation to continue including a voluntary-contributions letter with the county's 2026 tax bills.
"I make a motion that we, forward to the board a recommendation to continue with the letter with the categories we have," Rosa Brown said as she moved the recommendation; the motion was approved after a voice vote. Staff had presented a summary of contributions collected with the 2025 tax bills and asked the committee to decide whether to include the request again next year.
A staff presenter noted the program dates to about 2002 and that "recently in about I guess it was about 5 years ago, the Voluntary Fire and Rescue Association was added, and they seem to be the top recipient," underscoring why members wanted the categories reviewed and continued. The committee did not change the set of categories and asked staff to send the letter again with the next tax mailing.
