Los Lunas approves roughly $4.1M gas-line relocation for I-25 corridor project

Village Administrator Gregory D. Martin presented a relocation agreement with New Mexico Gas Company to the Village of Los Lunas Board on May 21 to allow the I-25 Los Lunas Boulevard Corridor Project to proceed.
"The estimated cost of the relocation work is approximately $4.1 million," Martin said, and he told the Board the expense will be covered by recently awarded state legislative appropriations. He said Molzen Corbin will review submitted invoices to verify costs before the Village approves payment and that construction is anticipated to begin in June with no expected gas-service interruptions.
Councilor Gino Romero moved to approve the relocation agreement; Councilor Matthew Chavez seconded. The motion carried on a vote of 3 for, 0 against (Councilors Romero, Runyon and Chavez recorded as voting yes). The agreement transfers responsibility for reimbursing relocation costs to the Village under state law as part of the roadway project.
The Board did not record a separate timetable for invoicing beyond the Molzen Corbin review; Councilors said they would rely on the consultant review to confirm eligibility and allow payment from the legislative appropriation.
