Carlos Aguer, who identified himself as a physician by training and a project organizer, said the senior center’s focus is combating social isolation for older residents and connecting users to social‑service partners like NIA rather than duplicating those services. "The senior center itself, it is not a place for people to go and find these things...but we are going to work together with NIA," Aguer said.
Committee members sought clarity about coordination among existing providers and whether the center would compete or complement current services; the committee moved to lay the item over for additional information and votes will be resumed at a later meeting.
