Fort Lee council promotes Sgt. Vassilios Triantafillou to lieutenant; two retirements accepted

The Borough of Fort Lee on Feb. 19 approved Resolution R-1 promoting Sergeant Vassilios Triantafillou to Police Lieutenant, effective March 1, 2026; the resolution states the promotion will be certified by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission and the new salary will follow the PBA contract.
Council also accepted retirement notices for Miriam Rosenbluth, Deputy Registrar of the Health Department (effective May 1, 2026), and Police Lieutenant Gabriel Cappola (effective March 1, 2026). In council reports and consent items, members offered congratulations to those leaving and to Triantafillou on his promotion.
In related personnel action (CA-5), Police Chief Hintze recommended—and the council appointed—Detective Edwin Diaz, Detective Christopher Dombroski, Police Officer Daniel Daub and Police Officer Elias Lorenzo as Municipal Humane Law Enforcement Officers under P.L. 2017 c. 331, which transfers certain animal-cruelty enforcement responsibilities and requires municipal appointments. The appointment resolutions note they were recommended by the chief and are intended to serve operational needs of the police department.
The council recessed briefly after the promotion vote and then reconvened to continue regular business.
