Police vehicle replacements and department remodel remain in FY2027 capital plan

Staff told the commission the police department has budgeted $85,000 for replacement patrol vehicles (one already purchased, another expected) and proposed $120,000 for a police department remodel in the capital plan. Finance director Mariah Pierce said the $120,000 estimate was carried over from the capital plan adopted in April and will be refined as design and procurement work advances.
On vehicle disposition, staff said they are researching auction options and county surplus programs to recover value from older vehicles. "We do have funds for it, for fiscal year 26 and we're budgeting another replacement car for fiscal year 27," Pierce said. Commissioners asked staff to return with more precise cost breakdowns and potential savings from coordinated procurement or county surplus channels.
