The Sumter School District Board of Trustees on Aug. 10 approved a package of motions carried by unanimous vote, covering student transfer and release permissions, fee waivers, construction change orders and a $17,000 purchase for live-broadcast equipment. The actions followed items brought out of executive session and routine consent business.
Trustees approved allowing specified students to attend Sumter schools for the 2026–27 year and the release of other students from the district. The board also approved fee waivers for three companies and a motion to purchase live-broadcast equipment for $17,000 to support board meetings and other district needs. The board moved a $20,270 change order for Hillcrest Middle School sewer work and $8,313.94 in fees related to Sumter High School softball facilities, and shifted funding for the Sumter High weight-room and Crestwood phases 3 and 4 from fund balance to fall 2026 capital bond proceeds.
Board chair Sean Reagan announced each motion, trustees seconded the items, and each motion was voted on with recorded unanimous approval. The personnel report, final reading of the revised code of conduct administrative rule, and contracts for multiple elementary and middle-school multipurpose-room projects and grounds maintenance were also approved as presented. The consent agenda closed out the meeting before adjournment.
