Officials cite weekend storms and salt costs for Trumbull snow budget overruns

Finance Director Maria Pires said she would provide board updates more frequently and explained the contingency fund’s intended uses, noting it is reserved for items such as unsettled labor agreements and workers’ compensation rather than bond interest.
Councilman Carl Massaro expressed concern that the town knew of the bond interest expense in March; Pires said excesses are reviewed monthly with the Board of Finance. The council approved the supplemental transfers after discussing these overruns.
