Two teens interviewed for Superior Youth Leadership Council; council to act at next meeting

The council interviewed two candidates for the Superior Youth Leadership Council. Ella Vatel, a Downtown Superior resident, said HOBY leadership programming inspired her to apply and that she wants to lift youth voices on issues affecting students of color and the community. "I'm hoping by being on this board, it would allow me to have my voice heard about these things going on in the world and things that affect us and our youth," she said.
Sue Oh, a rising sophomore at Monarch High School and Marshall Fire survivor, said community support motivated her to give back. She said serving on the youth council would let her create a greater sense of belonging for kids. Council members asked each candidate what they would change about the council and how they'd manage time; both stressed outreach and commitment. The council thanked both candidates and said it will take action on appointments at the next meeting.
