The Board of Trustees authorized a contract June 11 to retain David Adame as the Youth Success Core Coordinator for the TNT Boxing and Youth Mentoring Center. DWI Program Coordinator Ginny Adame presented the request and disclosed to the council that the proposed contractor is her husband, describing the disclosure as a transparency measure.
Ms. Adame said the coordinator’s responsibilities include recruiting and developing mentors, overseeing mentoring activities, and administering substance-misuse and violence-prevention curriculum for adjudicated youth in partnership with Juvenile Justice Services and Teen Court. Councilors discussed the program’s scope and services; the motion to approve the contract passed on a 3–0 vote (Romero, Runyon, Chavez voting yes).
The minutes record the disclosure of the marital relationship and that staff described the coordinator role as central to the Youth Success Core program’s mentor recruitment and programming. The contract approval included an explicit vote recorded in the minutes; no opposing votes were recorded.
