Maggie Massey was elected chair of the Essex Junction Development Review Board during the board’s annual reorganization at the July 16 meeting. Kristen Gilday nominated Massey, the nomination was seconded and the board approved the selection by voice vote; Chris Ewan, the city’s community development director, announced, “You have now the chair, Maggie.”
The new leadership will serve one-year terms. Members introduced themselves after the election: Susan Swagger (alternate), Kristen Gilday (board member), Amanda Svenson (newer member), Massey and newly elected vice chair Luke Brockmeier. Chris Ewan briefed the board on the chairs’ responsibilities, which include conducting meetings, keeping order and assisting staff with agendas when needed. Massey acknowledged the vote, saying, “Thank you, board.”
