District reports routine maintenance, vandalism repairs and proposed prescribed burns

Maintenance and Landscape Assistant Nick Thayer provided a rundown of recent facility work: trimming an oak tree at the Community Center; a light power wash and sealing of the Community Center posts and pickets by Sonoma Builders; and a new roof installed by Sanchez Roofing. Thayer also reported repeated minor repairs to the District’s Ford Ranger and replacement of vandalized fixtures at Creekside and Koret Park.
Thayer said staff posted signs reading "Please clean up after your pet" to address continuing pet-waste problems on the tennis courts. He also proposed several sites for prescribed burns to reduce fuel loads; Monte Rio Fire will evaluate whether to conduct burns once conditions dry out. Thayer presented a three-part Community Workday plan covering burn-pile building, riparian oak habitat restoration, and invasive-species removal along Schoolhouse Creek; he will propose tentative dates and Administrator McTaggart will advertise volunteer opportunities online.
