Commissioners proclaim April as 8-1-1 Safe Dig Month in Wayne County

"April is Safe Digging Month because the ground has started to thaw and a lot of digging related work commences at this time of year," White said. Commissioners thanked White for the presentation and unanimously adopted the 8-1-1 Safe Dig Month proclamation.
The proclamation is intended to raise awareness that anyone planning excavation should contact 8-1-1 to have underground utilities located and marked before digging, reducing the risk of struck lines and service interruptions.
