The Jackson County Commission approved surplus of selected county equipment and agreed to include a JM Wood Auction Company proposal (dated July 23, 2026) as the listing for items to be sold or transferred.
Commission members discussed whether to donate certain pieces to public parks and clarified that the JM Wood proposal contains the inventory the commission referenced. One commissioner asked for the JM Wood proposal to be included in the motion; the chair confirmed the proposal would be included.
Commission staff explained that some equipment is being surplus because it is no longer needed for county operations and that the county would seek to relieve itself of liability once property is transferred or sold. The motion to surplus and to include the JM Wood proposal passed on a voice vote.
The commission directed staff to follow normal surplus procedures and to ensure appropriate documentation for any donation or sale.
