Wayne County proclaims April Child Abuse Prevention Month; staff recognized

Nearly the entire staff of Wayne County Children and Youth Services attended the meeting for a Child Abuse Prevention Month proclamation. Director Jeannine Latsch pointed to staff gathered behind her and said, "these are the folks that are here every single day doing the hard work." Latsch also noted the recently opened Northeastern Regional Crisis Stabilization Center as a significant help to local child-welfare work.
County Casework Supervisors Ashley Starnes and Christine Irwin described the emotional weight of the work and the confidentiality constraints that keep much of it behind the scenes. The board adopted the proclamation by motion; Commissioners Smith and Cramer offered public thanks for employees' service and advocacy.
