The Crafton planning commission convened a public visioning session Thursday focused on the Linden Avenue site, a 5.25‑acre parcel at the corner of Steuben and Linden that combines land owned by the borough and the school district. Chair Al opened the meeting and said the evening’s purpose was community input, then yielded the floor to consultant Chris Reiger of OHM Advisors.
Chris Reiger, OHM’s project manager, told the room the consultant’s assignment is to “create a shared community and formal vision that guides future development and decision making for the Linden Avenue site,” and emphasized the session was listening‑focused. He outlined the public engagement process: two listening sessions, a citizen survey, targeted interviews and later concept testing, with draft concepts expected this autumn.
Why it matters: the parcel has been the subject of past developer interest and a 2017–18 offer that the presenters used as a fiscal benchmark. The consultant said the study tests alternatives against that benchmark and projects tax revenue over time to determine whether options meet the school district’s obligations. Residents used the session to press technical questions about ownership, where youth sports would relocate if the fields were redeveloped, traffic and stormwater, and to urge preservation or expansion of green space. The consultant and commission said they will publish materials online and continue outreach, including another listening session and a survey.
