Karen Saunders of the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute accepted the commissioners' annual C.A.S.U.A.L. Day proclamation at the March 26 meeting and used the occasion to encourage cancer screening. Saunders thanked the county and partners including Wayne Memorial Hospitals and local pharmacies and said the institute is seeing colon cancer diagnoses in younger people.
"They have a great relationship with their partners, including the County, Wayne Memorial Hospitals, Stephen's Pharmacy, and many others," Saunders said; she urged those age 45 and older to get screened and to consult with their physicians. The board adopted the proclamation by motion.
