Council approves lead service-line pay request; $1M state grant supports program

The council approved Pay Request No. 1 for the 2026 lead service-line replacement project in the amount of $29,744.50 to T & E Underground LLC. The city's engineer reported that work began last week and crews were averaging about two service-line replacements per day with roughly 40 services remaining.
Staff also reported the city received a $1,000,000 grant from the state (public facilities authority) to support the work, and that if work proceeds as planned staff will adjust the work plan to take advantage of the grant. "We're excited to receive this grant for 1000000 dollars from the state of Minnesota or from the public facilities authority to get this done," a staff member said.
Council approved the pay request by voice vote; staff will continue program scheduling and report progress to council.
