The Dare County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted an amendment to the FY26 water capital-improvement program Aug. 10 that resets the timeline for the Hatteras project and redirects $600,000 to cover an HVAC replacement that was not previously included in the CIP. Staff described the action as an internal reallocation of CIP funds to accommodate the unbudgeted HVAC work.
Matt Matika presented the amendment, saying the Hatteras project had money budgeted but that the amendment would move funds within the CIP and "redirect 600,000 for an HVAC replacement". There were no questions or public comments on the item; Commissioner Burrows moved to adopt the capital project ordinance, Commissioner Crieff seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The amendment adjusts project timelines and funding lines within the water CIP; staff indicated this is an administrative action to ensure needed facility upgrades are funded.
