Committee members reviewed the Potter Park concrete slabs and voted to convert them into two basketball courts with fencing on the ends.
Parks staff described the site as having one slab that had been a tennis court and another that had been basketball, and recommended resurfacing and correcting drainage to prevent "bathtub" pooling. Staff noted lighting plans (six lights, three per end) and the need to remove old hoops. A commissioner moved to convert both slabs into basketball courts and to fence the ends; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. "I have a motion and a second to turn Potter Park concrete slabs into 2 basketball courts," the Chair said during the vote.
Hooper and staff will obtain quotes and coordinate fencing and light installation. The committee specified 10-foot fencing on the ends only; staff noted side fencing is optional and could be omitted to save cost.
