Clark fire deputy: department showcases equipment, seeks to spark interest in firefighting at National Night Out

Matt Biondi, deputy chief of the Clark Fire Department, said the department attended National Night Out to introduce residents — especially children — to firefighting equipment and personnel. "It's run by the police, but the fire department always likes to, come out, show off our equipment, get the kids, to be familiar with the firemen, and to see some of the equipment we use, learn how to use it, maybe get them interested in becoming a fireman someday," Biondi said.
Biondi framed the appearance as part demonstration and part outreach: showing gear, explaining how equipment works and offering hands-on moments with the goal of community familiarity and future recruitment. He noted the event is organized by the police department but described the fire department’s role as complementary public-safety outreach. The remarks occurred during opening remarks for the Clark National Night Out gathering.
