Morgan Hill Unified superintendent highlights dual-language immersion programs during bilingual advocacy month

She said the district is proud of its dual language immersion schools at PA Walsh and San Martin Gwyn and framed the month as an opportunity to spotlight those programs.
Garcia described academic and social benefits of bilingual instruction, saying "Students have more academic and social engagement and more robust workforce opportunities available to them later in life." She credited bilingual educators for helping students "develop a high level of oral and written proficiency in both Spanish and English and achieve academic excellence in all subject areas, meeting or exceeding district and California state standards." Garcia also said, "Through our dual language immersion programs, our students are able to continue this pathway through high school to achieve the state of California seal of biliteracy.", presenting the Seal of Biliteracy as a concrete outcome students can pursue.
