The Selectboard voted to appropriate up to $8,000 from the town's opioid settlement allocation to fund a 32‑hour recovery coach/peer mentor training program through Choices Recovery Training for a select group of incarcerated individuals. The Manager said the program builds on the honors dorm/recovery group and could create pathways to certified recovery coach or human services careers upon release. "The program would provide a 32-hour recovery coach/peer mentor training to a select group of incarcerated individuals, giving them recovery skills for use inside the facility and potentially creating a pathway to certified recovery coach or human services careers upon release," the meeting record states.
The Board characterized the proposal as a pilot and said outcomes will be evaluated with potential recommendations for replication by the Prison Research & Innovation Network. Heather Frahm moved to appropriate up to $8,000 from opioid settlement funds; Doug Johnston seconded and the motion passed 5‑0.
