Public commenters raised two operational concerns for senior services: coordinating transportation for food-bank pickups and safety and accessibility at the Hillcrest Senior Life Center parking exit.
Mister Romero asked whether La Casa bus service could schedule seniors to pick up food at the food bank so they would not have to wait in line. Liz Krauthammel (La Casa) replied that with two full-time drivers the center "will be doing" food-bank pickups again and that she would work with RSVP and program staff to create a scheduled pickup time. Later, Rose Huerta said Hillcrest's parking lot has a single narrow opening that forces wheelchair users to mount a curb and creates visibility hazards at 7th and Sycamore; the mayor said the city manager is exploring driveway options and staff are seeking funding for a larger parking plan.
Committee members and staff agreed to take the concerns under advisement, discuss scheduling logistics, and pursue funding and modest landscaping changes to improve safe egress.
