RSVP and foster-grandparent programs report volunteer growth and new school partnerships

Diana Cassidy, manager for Curry County RSVP and foster-grandparent programs, told the committee that volunteer numbers and hours have grown and that new partnerships are expanding program reach.
"Currently, we have 71 volunteers. In August, we had 1,017 hours volunteered," Cassidy said. She reported placing volunteers at local senior meal sites, signing MOUs with Mesa and Berry Elementary for foster-grandparent placements, and executing an MOU with the Curry County Extension Office to increase resources. Cassidy said the foster-grandparent program currently has 16 active volunteers and the senior companion program grew to 15 volunteers after a July 1 award (the program's requirement is eight).
