Selectboard authorizes cleanup at 10–12 Central after third inspection finds safety violations

The Selectboard on July 20 authorized the Town Manager to secure and place a dumpster at 10–12 Central, post notices that trash and rubbish will be removed and that personal property must be secured, and to initiate exterior cleanup after staff and Vermont Fire Safety completed a third joint inspection under a February Findings of Fact and 180‑day compliance order. Board members discussed the tension between strict enforcement and protecting current occupants from displacement; Project Action and local service providers are expected to assist with relocation and housing if a Notice to Vacate is later issued. The Board voted 5‑0 to authorize immediate exterior cleanup measures, with Heather Frahm moving the motion and Michael Schmitt seconding it.
