Commissioners review $1.14 million Olive Street remodel estimate and approve plan submittal

Architect Eric Trout of Peterman Architectural Services, Inc., presented drawings and a detailed cost estimate for the Olive Street building remodel and told the commissioners the base-bid construction estimate is $1,139,619.83, with an add-alternate (wrap-around canopy) of $56,323.93.
Trout explained what each Division No. in the base bid covered and said "the estimate did not include some items for security and IT due to that work being completed by the county IT department." Commissioners asked for clarification on several construction estimates, discussed departmental space needs and directed staff to meet with each department that will occupy the building to try to reduce cost per square foot. The board approved that Trout submit the plans to the Wood County Building Department; Trout said he will pay the submittal fee and be reimbursed.
Attachments provided a Division-by-Division breakdown showing a building subtotal of $831,839.29 before prevailing-wage, general-conditions and contingency additions that bring the total to the stated estimate. The commissioners did not vote to award construction contracts at the meeting; they authorized plan submittal and additional departmental review.
