Local groups schedule flood-mapping workshop and community voting on neighborhood projects

Representatives from local organizations told the board on April 6 that community-driven mapping and voting efforts are under way.
Bridal Frederickson of the Highland Falls Community Flood Resilience Working Group asked residents with properties along the brook to attend a flood-mapping workshop on April 18 at the library to document flooding locations and share photos; the group plans to compile a more detailed flood diagram for later presentation to the village and possible grant applications. "April 18, over at the library, we are having a flood mapping, project," Frederickson told the trustees.
Separately, the Highlands Together We Decide initiative is circulating postcards asking residents to vote on eight community projects derived from months of community conversations. Bolton Anderson explained the outreach plan and collection points — village hall, library, Fort Montgomery and other public locations — and urged participation. Both organizers said they would share materials with the village to post online.
The board encouraged organizers to provide flyers and meeting details for posting on the village website and social channels.
