Board hears water/wastewater operations update; plant treated average 560,000 gallons daily in February

The board received an operational report on the village water and wastewater plant from Trustee Raines (S6). He told trustees the plant treated an average of 560,000 gallons per day in February and described several operational events that affected service.
Trustee Raines said an electrical problem at Webb Lane required new electric service work and that power was restored on Feb. 27. During a deep freeze the plant lost potable water service for 18 days and crews restored water to the plant on Feb. 22 after a series of repairs and thawing efforts. Trustee Raines also said a pump at the plant is beyond repair and the village will solicit pricing to replace it; quarterly mercury sampling has been completed and results are pending.
"They treated 560,000 gallons of water daily on an average," Trustee Raines reported. The board noted these operational strains in the context of earlier public comments about infiltration and agreed to follow up on clarifying treatment costs per unit volume.
